Requirements for Renting

Age Requirements
The renter must be 21 years of age to rent any of our motorized vehicles.

Driving Restrictions
Vehicles are allowed to be operated in the State of Illinois only. In addition, 50cc’s do not travel at the minimum rate of speed required for operation on the highway.

Mileage
All rentals come with unlimited mileage.

Helmets
All renters are provided with and are required to wear head protection.

Locking
Vehicles are released with additional locking devices to deter theft. Locks are expected to be used whenever the vehicle is parked or left unattended for any period of time.

Inclement Weather Insurance
For a fee of $10 Ciao Bella Scooters will allow you to reschedule the date of your rental due to inclement weather in the Alton, Illinois area. This insurance must be purchased at least 24 hours prior to the rental date. Rescheduling may only take place prior to delivery dispatch or if it is raining at the time the rental is scheduled to begin (whichever comes first). Insurance does not apply once the rental has started and renter has taken possession of the vehicle.

Cancellation Policy
A cancellation fee of 50% of the quoted reservation rate will be applied if the reservation is cancelled 24 hours prior of the start of the rental.

Damage Deposit Requirements
A $400 Damage deposit will be required for all 250cc motorized vehicles. A $200 damage deposit will be required for all 50cc motorized vehicles. This deposit will be charged to the same credit card that is used to reserve the vehicle. An amount equal to the deposit requirement will be placed onto the credit card which will limit the maximum credit amount for a period of 2-5 business days. After the rental period expires, the authorization will be canceled and full credit will be restated.

Payment Methods
Ciao Bella Scooters accepts the following methods of payment: Cash, VISA, Master Card and Discover Card. When a reservation is made over email, a reservation confirmation will be emailed or a follow-up telephone conversation will take place 24 hours before your rental date and time to confirm, delivery address (if applicable), and an estimated total charge. If credit card information is provided in an email, please include the expiration date of the card as well as the name of the cardholder as it appears on the card.

Rates
Rates are subject to change without notice. Special Offers or discounts may expire at any time. We reserve the right to refuse or postpone rental due to inclement weather, driving history, intoxication or any other reason that may jeopardize your safety, the safety of others and/or that of the vehicle.

Vehicle Drop-off/Pick-up
Customers must deliver their scooter to the same location they pick up their scooter. All rentals returned 10 minutes past reserved time due for delivery will incur a fee of $25 per hour for 50cc scooters and $40 per hour for 250cc motorcycles.

Hours of Operation
Scooter rentals begin each year on May 1st and end October 31st. Rental hours at our Alton, IL location are Tuesday thru Saturday 10am - 6pm. Reservations are required for Sunday rentals. It is recommended that reservations be made 24 hours in advance for those who want to rent for a full day. Hours for DMV testing are Tuesday thru Friday 8am – 4pm and Saturday from 8:00am – 11am. Reservations are required for all DMV rentals .

Location
Ciao Bella Scooters is located at 443 East Broadway in downtown Alton, Illinois.

Items Required for the Rental Date
On the day of your rental, you will need to provide the following:

  1. a valid driver's license (for vehicles over 50CC’s a motorcycle endorsement is required) and
  2. the credit card used to reserve the vehicle (a $200 line of credit must be available on the 50cc scooters and $400 for the 250cc scooters. This amount is a hold and will be relinquished once the bike is returned undamaged to the store).
  3. closed toe shoes.

Orientation
Ciao Bella Scooters provides an overview of the vehicle that will be rented. Generally this overview takes about 10-15 minutes and is required for all renters, no matter their personal experience.

Renter’s Driving Record
Tickets are not accepted as proof of driver's license. You must have a valid driver's license to rent any vehicle, no exceptions. If renter has a negative driving record that includes, but not limited to, DUI, DWI, having a revoked license, license suspension or any other criminal conviction within the last 5 years he/she may not be eligible to rent a vehicle. We generate a complete background check on every renter.
